Flora & Fauna
Flora
Due to the paucity of water, most deserts contains almost no flora. Plants that adapted to the climate had these specific traits; increase water absorption has very small leaves(Cactus), very long roots which can reach the most humid layers of soil, water accumulation in the tissues and leaves covered with wax and lose their leaves when it is arid and make them grow when it is humid. These traits are what is needed to survive in a desert for a Flora.
Fauna
Animals have also created some strategies to preserve water and avoid hot weather: thick skin and underground life for scorpions and insects, recuperation of water steam in pulmonary air by condensing it in nostrils, production of drained feces, clear colored skin to reflect the sun, search for water and food at night and accumulation of water in internal pockets(Camel).
Flora and Fauna have similar problems in the desert, most notably the intense heat and the lack of moisture/water but over millions of years both groups have adapted to the climate with different traits but the same goal. (Eg. A Cactus - Increase water reservation, A Camel - Accumulation of water in internal pockets)
